About Us—♦ Fin & Fern ♦—
Chef ♦ Owner
In 2019, Andrew Chappell finally landed in a place that he’s excited to call home: Maine. A graduate of Johnson & Wales’ Culinary Arts program with a formal background in classical French cuisine, Andy brings over 30 years of experience to Fin & Fern. He’s worked in private homes, chartered yachts, and fine dining restaurants in the U.S., Australia, Bermuda, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Having found a home in seaside Stonington, Maine, Andy has finally settled down to make the kind of food that he enjoys, in one of the most beautiful places in this country. Opening Fin & Fern is the result of a lot of hard work and he couldn’t be happier to invite you to visit his restaurant.
Stonington ♦ Maine
Welcome to our Island
Fin & Fern restaurant sits on the shore of Penobscot Bay on the island of Stonington, Maine. As you dine, watch lobster boats unload their daily haul and enjoy the sounds of seagulls and foghorns in the distance. Our restaurant is a quick walk from downtown, where you’ll find quaint inns, fresh-brewed coffee, a variety of gift stores, a one-hundred-year-old theater, and Maine-inspired ice cream. Right next door is Isle au Haut Boat Services’ ferries and tours. As you return from a day of sightseeing on the water, stop in and enjoy a home-cooked meal in the Fin & Fern dining room or head to our upstairs bar for the sunset. Stonington harbor is the leading lobster port in the state of Maine and also lands local crab, mussels, clams, oysters, scallops, halibut, tuna, and more, all featured on our menu and accompanied by handmade pasta and sauces. Stonington and neighboring Deer Isle are accessible to the mainland by a beautiful suspension bridge. We’re just 30 minutes from Blue Hill and 90 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Come visit us!
